Conferences, Courses and Working Groups

December 2017 - Conference: Ecology Across Borders / British Ecological Soceity Annual Meeting in Ghent. Presenting a poster on my work on simulating plant life histroy strategies to guide comparative research of matrix population models.

March 2017 - Course: Matrix Approaches Health Demography (2 weeks), taught by Hal Caswell at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research. Introducing methods based on Markov chains, Markov chains with rewards, multistate matrix models, and matrix calculus.

January 2017 - Course: Foundations for Effective Scientific Writing (1 week).

December 2016 - Conference: British Ecological Society Annual Meeting in Liverpool. Presented a poster about the COMPADRE and COMADRE matrix databases.

October 2016 - Course: Integral Projection Models: Demography in a Continuous World (1 week), Barcelona. Run by

Summer 2016 - Working group: International Demographic Working Group (1 week), hosted at the University of Exeter.


Autumn 2017 - Teaching asssitant on Dr Dylan Child's second-year undergraduate statistics and R course.

Spring 2017 - Breaking Boundaries facilitator: an interdisciplinary undergraduate module to teach them how to research an issue, form an argument and present it in a debate.


Summer 2016, University of Exeter

Internship with Proffessor David Hodgson’s research group working on COMPADRE database and front-end web development (10 weeks). Data input, processing and error checking of matrix population models from scientific literature into COMPADRE database. Front-end development of a web application for the COMPADRE database using Python, Javascript and HTML.


2014 - Part-time lead volunteer at Falmouth Aquarium

2013 - Four month full-time lead volunteer bottlenose dolphin research assistant at Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre

2010-2013 - Practical conservation work party volunteer and Ecology Groups office-based volunteer with Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire
